With Stora Enso as the new owner, the family has ensured a stable successor that will continue to develop and drive the business forward. The acquisition of Junnikkala enables Stora Enso to secure a cost-efficient wood supply for its packaging board site in Oulu, Finland, and supports its wood products business with new production assets.<\/p>\n
Junnikkala was founded in 1960 and is now a leading family-owned Finnish sawmill company that procures, processes, and manufactures wood products for both Finnish and export markets. Headquartered in Kalajoki, Junnikkala operates three sawmills in Finland, including its new state-of-the-art sawmill in Oulu. Junnikkala employs approximately 230 people, and the company\u2019s revenue in 2023 was EUR 115 million.<\/p>\n
Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials and wooden construction, and one of the largest private forest owners in the world. Stora Enso has approximately 20,000 employees and their revenue in 2023 was EUR 9.4 billion. Stora Enso shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki Oy (STEAV, STERV) and Nasdaq Stockholm AB (STE A, STE R).<\/p>\n
