MCF acted as buy-side M&A and debt advisor to EMZ Partners on the acquisition of SBH Tiefbautechnik
EMZ Partners, a leading pan-European investment firm focused small-to-medium-sized companies, has acquired a minority stake in SBH Tiefbautechnik, an international manufacturer and rental provider of high-quality shoring systems for civil engineering. Together with EMZ, the management team plans to further expand the rental business, enter additional European markets, and complement growth through targeted strategic acquisitions. MCF facilitated the transaction through buy-side M&A and debt advisory services.

SBH was founded in 1986 in Heinsberg, the center of German trench shoring, where it remains firmly rooted to this day. As an international manufacturer and rental provider of high-quality shoring systems for civil engineering, SBH offers its customers a broad product portfolio as well as comprehensive services, ranging from technical consulting to maintenance.
Over the past 40 years, Wolfgang Deussen has built SBH into an internationally recognized provider in the trench shoring segment. Today, the company is led by an experienced management team that includes, alongside Wolfgang Deussen, his son Tim Deussen as well as Anke Mahlau and Johannes Hotmann. The foundation of this long-standing success lies in its high product quality, close and long-standing customer relationships, strong expertise in technically demanding projects, and a hybrid business model combining sales and rental.
„We are extremely impressed by what Wolfgang Deussen, together with his team and employees in Heinsberg, has built – one of the global market leaders and an internationally highly respected brand in trench shoring. We were particularly convinced by SBH’s leading market position, the broad applicability of its products across a wide range of infrastructure projects, and the entrepreneurial agility with which the company continuously develops its business model. Together with the experienced and highly motivated management team, we look forward to supporting SBH in its next growth phase,“ said Klaus Maurer, Senior Partner at EMZ.
Wolfgang and Tim Deussen comment: “With existing shareholders exiting the company, EMZ is joining SBH as a new minority shareholder. For us, ensuring continuity in the company’s development is a key priority. Together with our management team, our employees and EMZ, we look forward to continuing SBH’s successful development.”
