MCF advised Bergenstråhle on its sale to IP HoldCo, the Longship-backed holding company of Acapo Onsagers

Bergenstråhle is the second Swedish company to join the group, following the combination with brand, domain and trademark specialist Brimondo AB (“Brimondo”) earlier this year. Together, the acquisitions mark a decisive step in the ambition to build the leading Intellectual Asset Management platform in the Nordic region, combining complementary capabilities to create greater value for clients across the innovation lifecycle.

The combined group will offer a holistic and business-oriented approach to IP across the Nordic region based on Acapo Onsagers’ leading patent and IP advisory practice, Bergenstråhle’s business-oriented Intellectual Asset Management model, and Brimondo’s strategy-based and technology-enabled brand and domain services. Together, the firms establish the third-largest IP player in the Nordic region, with one of the broadest IP and Intellectual Asset Management offerings in the market. The group is backed by Longship, a leading private equity investor dedicated to building internationally recognised category leaders out of Norway.

Bergenstråhle will continue to serve its clients through its existing relationships and teams, while gaining access to broader capabilities and a stronger Nordic platform. Bergenstråhle’s business-oriented approach and Return on Innovation® philosophy will remain an important part of the group’s development. Over time, clients across the Nordics will benefit from an integrated suite of services that combines the strengths of all three firms – spanning IP strategy and valuation, patent prosecution, trademark and legal advisory, brand and domain protection, competitive intelligence, and innovation strategy and funding.
