MCF advises Axel Johnson International and its’ subsidiary Nomo in the acquisition of JokiLaakeri

Axel Johnson International AB (“Axel Johnson International”), a privately owned Swedish industrial group and its’ subsidiary Nomo Group (“Nomo”), has acquired JokiLaakeri Oy (“JokiLaakeri”), a Finnish family-owned multi-brand bearing distributor. MCF acted as adviser to Axel Johnson International and its’ subsidiary Nomo in the acquisition, and this transaction yet again proves MCF’s ability to successfully execute cross-border deals in the Nordic region with a long-term client. Following the acquisition of TMT. Malinen and SKS Group’s mechanical power transmission business in 2017 and 2018, respectively, this is the third transaction in which MCF has advised Axel Johnson International.

“When acquiring JokiLaakeri, MFC played a vital role for Nomo and Axel Johnson International. With a combination of business and financial expertise, understanding of the parties’ standpoints and a local Finnish approach, MFC was a great asset especially in some critical moments during the process”.

The Deal

JokiLaakeri has a leading market position in Tampere, the key industrial region in Finland, with branches in Lahti, Vaasa and Oulu. The acquisition strengthens Nomo’s offering in the Finnish market and is in line with the company’s strategy to take the leading position as technical solution provider within the fields of bearings, power transmissions, seals and related services in the Nordic market. JokiLaakeri becoming a part of Nomo is furthermore a great fit in terms of employees, products and geography.

The Target

JokiLaakeri was founded in 1991 and is a highly regarded multi-brand bearing distributor in the Finnish market with a comprehensive product portfolio, high level of technical expertise and extensive service offering. The company has around 25 employees with annual sales of approx. EUR 18 million.
